What's Your Relationship with Social Media?
Sometimes the biggest question we should ask is to ourselves.
Howdy!
This week, I asked myself a tough question: What am I really getting out of social media?
So, I decided to go 30 days without it. No TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn. I’ve taken breaks from individual platforms before, but never all at once.
The funny thing is, I felt lighter immediately. I’m not ashamed to admit that I spend too much time scrolling when I could be doing something productive or even just better for my self-care.
I also realized that social media makes me feel rushed all the time. Yes, I use it for connection, laughs, and business—but what’s my actual relationship with it?
So, this week, I asked myself the biggest question: What do I want my relationship with social media to be? Spoiler: I don’t have a clear answer yet. Maybe in 30 days, I will.
Asks from You!
As I mentioned, I’ll be sharing wins and lessons from the asks you all are courageous enough to take. This week, Janicia F. shared a huge podcasting win that proves persistence pays off. Her story is below:
This Week in Podcast Production—A Huge Win! (Shortened for brevity)
I had been reaching out to a potential guest for months—emailing, refining my ask, and getting no response. With every message, I kept the same energy and made my request clearer.
Finally, after months of follow-ups, they said YES! 🎉
After recording, their team told me this guest almost NEVER does podcasts—but my persistence and clarity convinced them to take me seriously. This was one of those “I can’t believe this is happening” moments I always knew would come—I just had to keep asking.
👏🏽 Congrats to Janicia! Her story is proof that asking—and following up—can change the game.
So my questions to you (answer one, or all 😉):
Did you ask for what you wanted this week?
And if your ask is already out there, did you follow up?
What’s your relationship with social media? Is it serving you, or are you just there?
That’s it for me! Have a great weekend,
