Hard Truth: You Might Be Holding Yourself Back

A bit of tough love

Howdy!

I’m back from Atlanta, and the pilot episode of First On Us is officially wrapped! 🎬 I’ll keep you posted on where to watch once it’s ready.

We’re still casting singles (28+ in Atlanta, completely single—no situationships! 😉). If that’s you, or you know someone who should apply, send them this link! We’re open to all races and sexual orientations.

Now, on to the real talk…

This week, I want to get real with you. We don’t like to admit it, but sometimes we are the reason we don’t have what we want.

Not because we’re not talented. Not because we’re unlucky. But because it’s easier to blame outside factors than to hold ourselves accountable for the actions we haven’t taken.

Of course, there are things beyond our control—systems, biases, luck, timing. But most of the time? We have more power than we’d like to admit.

We tell ourselves we’re “not ready” instead of applying for the opportunity anyway.
We wait for permission instead of putting our work out there.
We assume people will say no, so we don’t even bother asking.
We say “I don’t know how” and stop there, instead of figuring it out.

The truth? Most of the time, we aren’t actually being “held back” by anyone. We’re doing it to ourselves.

So this week, I want you to ask yourself:

  • Where am I making excuses instead of taking action?

  • What have I been waiting for permission to do?

  • What’s one thing I can ask for that moves me forward?

Because the more you ask, try, and put yourself out there, the more you’ll realize—you had the power all along.

So… what are you asking for this week?

See y’all next Friday!
