A TV Show and a No
What's the worst that could happen?
Howdy!
I’m in Atlanta shooting my first digital series! 🎥
Last year, I met a talented Production Manager & Producer named Ivana through Linkedin. She reached out to connect, and after a great Zoom call, we kept in touch.
When I had the idea to bring a dating series to life, she was the first person I thought of, based on our previous interactions. So one day, I asked:
“Would you collaborate with me on a show where we match singles and send them on a fully paid first date?”
She said YES—and this Sunday, we’re shooting the pilot for First On Us! 🎉
We’re self-funding it, casted it ourselves, and figuring it out as we go. But none of this would be happening if I hadn’t asked.
That’s my asking win of the week. Now, here’s an asking fail:
I’m writing a book and reached out to one of the biggest podcasters in the industry to interview her. We’ve met before and built rapport, so I assumed it’d be an easy yes…
Nope. Her team graciously declined. And after the initial sting? I moved on.
Asking is a muscle. Sometimes it works out (hello, First On Us!), and sometimes it doesn’t. But the only way to build it is to keep asking.
So, what did you ask for this week? Reply and let me know!
P.S. My social media break is still going strong. 🙌🏽
See y’all next Friday!
